The Functionality of the Oracle App:
How 'The Young I Ching' Answers You.
Are you wondering how "The Young I Ching" works and how it arrives at its precise and often surprising answers? Here's how the wisdom of the ancient T'ai Hsüan Ching comes alive through modern algorithms, the Oracle app method.
Sometimes complex processes feel like an old, wondrous machine. This video of a sculpture by Jean Tinguely gives you a visual impression of how your question is processed in 'The Young I Ching' to generate a unique answer. Notice the surprising element of hope amidst the mechanics!
Ancient Wisdom, Modern Application
The connection between the T'ai Hsüan Ching and the I Ching is evident. Our oracle app uses a special algorithm based on the Shao Yong method. We've utilized the ingenious system of the Chinese philosopher Shao Yong (1011-1077) from the Sung Dynasty as a blueprint. This system, the Shao Yong · I Ching numerology, described by Da Liu in "I Ching Numerology" (1979), is a perfect guide for accessing the 729 appraisals of the T'ai Hsüan Ching.Interestingly, it was a contemporary of Shao Yong, Ssu Ma Kuang (1019-1086), who published the "Standard Edition" of T'ai Hsüan Ching – the basis for most modern translations. This is how ancient sources are combined with a clever system.
Learn More About the Answer Generation of the T'ai Hsüan Ching - How Your Question Becomes the Answer: Step by Step
IOur oracle app uses a special algorithm, an Oracle algorithm based on the Shao Yong method to transform your question using the alphabetical code into a unique answer. It's a fascinating process that connects your words with universal patterns:
1. Your Question in Focus: The Upper Bigram is Formed.
o We use an alphabetical code (A=1, B=2, etc.) to convert the letters in your question into numbers.
o These numbers are added together. The sum is then – inspired by Shao Yong transformed into the upper bigram (a two-line unit of the tetragram).
o Intriguing: The numbers for some English words are surprisingly fitting:
- World, Heaven, Time = 60
- Brain, Game, Model = 61
- Oracle, Human = 62
- Dream Interpretation, Existential Angst = 183
o Astonishingly, the sum of the first three numbers equals the fourth number, representing a fascinating synchronicity! (Source: "Das Alphabet als Code" by Christian Reder, KOMET, Frechen 1999)
2. The Moment Matters: The Lower Bigram is Formed.Überschrift 2
o The app automatically obtains the current hour, month, and year from your device.
o A specific algorithm combines this data with the current day and – also following Shao Yong's principles – converts them into the lower bigram.
3. The complete answer: Your tetragram and its message.Überschrift 2
o The numerical values of the upper and lower bigrams serve as coordinates to find the corresponding tetragram (the four-line unit) from the table (see below). Each tetragram contains nine possible appraisals.
o The exact hour and minute of your inquiry then determine which of the nine appraisals is selected as your specific answer. This provides a unique message tailored to your moment.
